The start of this blog was my husband’s idea. A spunky new camera – his Christmas gift to me – turned every plate of food into my willing subject for daily photography practice. Before too long, there it was: an album I called ‘Good Eats’ on Facebook. “Where’s the recipe?” everyone asked. So, here I am and here are some of the recipes and tales of my inspiration.
I have been cooking since I was eight. In far-away India, an omelette with onions prepared under my father’s watchful eyes was my very first attempt at cooking. The rest just followed. I come from a family of superbly picky eaters! I haven’t inherited that trait, but that doesn’t keep me from critiquing a plate of food that doesn’t hold up to its name.
I love to cook, style, and take a picture – or ten – before serving the concoction up to my ever so patient husband, Tony, and our little girl, Saira, or to a dining room full of family and friends.
What I like to cook is whatever I can find in the grocery store. Fresh vegetables, seafood, or a new product inspire me; so does Food Network on TV, occasionally a magazine or a cookbook, and most importantly a yearning for something new, something fun.
Food is such a wonderful thing. Besides everything wonderful it does, it also bonds us. What could be more rewarding than bonding with people, new and old, over and over again? Food is so worth it!
Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy reading where my recipes come from. I have come to realize how much I look forward to hearing from all of you. Most importantly the thought of my little girl growing up to be able to read this takes me to a whole new level of happiness.
Cooking and eating is complete therapy. Enjoy.

Thanks Tash! Those were definitely fun times at BP. Most of the fun food was cooked in the wee hours of the morning after a night out downtown…they were good I’m sure! Haha!

Hello ! I really love your blog and found many interesting posts that inspired me, hence I nominated you for Inspiring Blog Award here
http://vinca11.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/inspiring-blog-award/
Thank you so very much! I’m very honoured! 🙂
You have an awesome blog! Following now and hoping to learn much!
Just a small note since I am currently studying internet intellectual property rights, I am not sure if you can ‘copyright’ a recipe by publishing on your blog. Recipes can only be kept secret 😉
Thank you Aditto! You have quite the interesting blog yourself.
About the copyright: since you are studying about the subject I would think you know better but isn’t it a question open to interpretation? I would think so. 🙂
I have just started cooking and blogs like yours are very helpful. Do you bake also?
About the copyrights – 🙂 I mean you really cannot copyright a recipe. As a goodwill gesture, I do try to link back to the original recipe wherever it is on the net, if I put it on my blog as-is. But anyone can read it, make the food item, rephrase the recipe and put on his own blog.
Also, most of the recipes I put on my blog are made using the same recipe from multiple sources.
But the photos/graphics etc that you put up are your own and very rightfully copyrighted 😀
Happy cooking, blogging and spreading love! 🙂
I bake quite a bit! Love baking and I wish I could bake my way through Indian curries too! The oven is a good thing.
🙂 Always!
Thanks for following my blog! I’ve been looking at the wonderful food you’ve made and my mouth is so watery right now! I will definitely attempt as many as I can. I am a big fan of spicy seafood and almost anything with coconut!
Thank you! I hope you like the flavours. The Malai Curry is no doubt delicious!
Your photos of your dishes look amazing!

You have a gorgeous blog yourself!
Your blog is looking more gorgeous by the day! Truly, a new update does wonders for the look and I think there might be a few photography and web skills/tips you might need to teach me! Quick question, are you still on WordPress.com or have you moved the site to hosting now? Either way the new layout is fantastic and well worth the time (it would have taken) to redesign your blog.
Thank you Alice!
I am still with WordPress. This is just a new theme…free one, of course. There will be a day sooner than later when I would have to think about my own hosting, layout, etc, etc…and I got zero clues on how that should be done! 🙂

Very nice blog full of cool recipes. Thank you for stopping by in mine and for the like in my last post. Best wishes 🙂
just one word….mmmm! those photos really do it for me! but whats that i read….ghee???
i used to use that stuff a lot until my doctor advised us not to eat it at all…well, maybe once a month or so….its clarified butter….and is heart-attack material per se…so the dr says! anyway, im in BC….. miles away….but maybe through food we can converse!
Nice to hear from you. Thank you for visiting my blog. Moderation is the key…and it applies to anything. Ghee is delicious and it’s something usually reserved for festivals.
true…everything in moderation!

Heya, I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award!
It’s a little bit of fluff and nonsense, but that’s all we need in our lives, don’t we? 🙂
http://skinnyfatsky.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/liebster-award/
Thank you, thank you!
I have not yet returned any of the blog awards since summer. It is so hard when pressed for time. But I do intend to acknowledge the kind people who sent them my way.
And that ‘fluff and nonsense’ part…..I totally agree! 😀
Thanks for stopping by my Three Gratitudes Project.

Daisy and the Fox
Thank you Daisy and the Fox! I am honoured, truly. I have not yet returned any of the blog awards since I got them. I am way behind. But I do intend to get back eventually. Thank you once again.
Hi, I was just revisiting some of my earlier blog posts and came across your like on my review of ‘Giraffe’. I hopped onto your blog immediately and I must say that the layout is a refreshing change. 🙂 Although much of your posts are recipe based (and I for one haven’t really tried my hand at cooking), it was nice to browse through them. I blog at couchcibo.wordpress.com but it’s just my reviews of the restaurants I visit. I do admit I’m a bit behind on the frequency of my posts though. 🙂 I hope you do revisit my blog and check my reviews out. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Thanks. 🙂
“Cooking and eating is complete therapy. Enjoy.” Totally agree! 😀
Isn’t it the truth? Nothing beats the feeling of sharing your plate of food with…nothing! 🙂
You write so beautifully. It’s a pleasure to have found your blog… haha, my husband inserted the idea of starting a blog into my head also. I think he wanted me to have another form of expression, instead of blabbing in food-obsessed terms to him all the time… oh, and leaving recipes on scraps of paper scattered around the house! Can’t wait to start looking through your archives. Excited! Following you now x
I totally owe it to my husband for starting this blog as well as being able to continue as well. Thank you so very much for the beautiful compliments. I hope you like what you find here.
Just discovered your blog, looks fab! Great photos.
